Attention Married and Engaged Couples

Learn about your faith and discover a natural way to postpone or achieve pregnancy…
the art of Natural Family Planning is based on an awareness of a woman's fertility.
It's medically safe, 99% effective, very low cost, often has a positive effect on the
couple's marriage, and is morally acceptable.

The Art of Natural Family Planning
with Couple To Couple League

Natural Family Planning is fertility awareness, the knowledge of a couple's fertility. It is a means of reading a woman's signs of fertility and infertility. The Couple to Couple League teaches three basic signs of fertility— temperature, mucus and cervix and how to apply this knowledge through the Sympto-Thermal Method (STM) of NFP, which can be used both to achieve and to avoid or postpone pregnancy. With the Couple to Couple League, the art of Natural Family Planning® goes beyond the method as we teach NFP within the moral constructs of the Magisterium of the
Catholic Church, with an emphasis on the teachings of Pope John Paul II and the Theology of the Body. Couples learn of God's vision and plan for marriage and family, and how to live out their sexuality while upholding and respecting the dignity of each other and their union. A married couple's virtuous application of their fertility awareness knowledge, either to try to achieve a pregnancy or to postpone a pregnancy, is called responsible parenthood.

The art of Natural Family Planning® also includes the return of fertility after childbirth and the changing fertility status of the premenopause years. Group instruction is offered through a four session course with individual follow-up to be done at the same time and on-going as needed until client autonomy is established. Classes here at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel are taught by Couple to Couple League certified NFP instructors,

Alison and John Oertle.

Diocesan NFP Introduction
If you are interested in a one time session to learn about what Natural Family Planning is and the different methods available in the Diocese of Phoenix, you may want to consider attending and Introductory Session.  (Please note, this will not equip you with all of the knowledge necessary to implement NFP in your marriage but will answer initial questions and give couples the basics to make informed choices from there).  This Introduction meets the minimum requirement for couples preparing to be married here at Mt. Carmel; however, all are highly encouraged to take a full course offered by CCL or one of the other method providers in the diocese.

Upcoming Introductory Sessions at Mt. Carmel:

Wednesday at 7:00 pm in Mt. Carmel’s McCready Hall North with the Van Brunts
