Our New Vision - Something for Everyone

Why Sunday mornings?

Every year we have numerous adults who join us for the sacramental preparation through the RCIA process as sponsors or guests, even our candidates and catechumens realizing that they know more than the average Catholic in the pew by the end of the year, say “Everyone should have to do this!”, “Why doesn’t every adult have to go through RCIA?”

After hearing it enough times these past six years, we finally have decided to do something about it.

Kicking off with EWTN’s Family Celebration at the Phoenix Convention Center, September 8-9, we will gather weekly under the new umbrella of “Family Discipleship” coming together as families to share a potluck continental-style breakfast Sunday mornings from 8:30-9:00. Children and teens will then move to different areas on parish grounds for age appropriate formation or childcare for the little ones while adults remain in McCready Hall. All ages will come back together for a closing prayer at 10:45 just in time to go to the 11:00 Mass together as a family.

It is our prayer that this will redefine the way that many of our families celebrate the Lord’s Day by dedicating Sunday mornings entirely to a family meal, fellowship, formation and celebration of the Liturgy. Ending by noon, the rest of the day will still be free for other family activities having given the first part to the Lord in His Church.

Although the format for adults will remain the same as our former RCIA process, regarding content of teachings, guest speakers, small group discussion and large group Q & A sessions, we are hoping to pack the hall not only with those preparing for the sacraments but many other fully initiated adults as well seeking to go deeper in their knowledge and love of our Catholic faith. We can’t wait to see the fruit of extending catechesis on such a large scale this year, fully entering into the Church’s call that this be the year of a new evangelization!

So whether you are:

  • a faithfully practicing catholic who is already fully initiated
  • wanting to come home to the Catholic Church after having been away for any reason
  • seeking to complete your initiation through the sacrament of Confirmation
  • or are looking into the Church for the first time through RCIA

We look forward to having you join us and be a part of this exciting new vision.
