OCIT – Order of Christian Initiation for Teens
OCIT is a two-year sacramental preparation program for teens (6th -12th grade) who want to complete the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and First Eucharist) to be a full member of the Catholic Church.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church has designed its faith formation program for teens to include participation in the EDGE and Life Teen Program. Now more than ever teens need to belong to a community of likeminded individuals living out their faith. Therefore, to encourage a lifelong journey in the Catholic faith they will be able to start their journey with EDGE or Life Teen while being prepared to receive their sacraments at the same time.
First Year: Teens will attend EDGE/Life Teen, and a retreat that has a focus on the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Second Year: Teens will attend EDGE/Life Teen, and a retreat that has a focus on Confirmation and the Eucharist.
**Please note: EDGE is for grades 6-8, and Life Teen is for grades 9-12.
Requirements
- Registered parishioner (family)
- Fulfill Sunday Mass & other Holy Days of Obligation
- Participation in EDGE or Life Teen weekly sessions
- EDGE meets most Monday evenings from 6:00-8:00pm
- Life Teen meets most Sunday evenings from 6:00-8:00pm
- Consistent attendance at formation sessions for parents and sponsors
Fees
The yearly fees to cover the cost for our program are as follows: $125
*This will include the cost of one retreat. Generally, EDGE and Life Teen will host two retreats a year, one in the Fall and one in the Spring. A child receiving Sacraments will be required to participate in one of these retreats as part of his or her faith formation.*
