Religious Education for Children & Teens

Our young parishioners are an integral part of Faith Formation at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. To teach our children about Our Faith and offer Sacramental Preparation follows the teaching of Our Lord and Savior. Through this ministry, our children are taught to know, love and serve God.

Children and teens are required to attend at least two years of Religious Education Classes before receiving the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation which they can receive on third grade or older.

Grades 1st – 6th meet on Sundays from 10:20-11:45am. Grades 7th – 12th meet on Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30pm. RE programs run every year from the end of August until May.

Sacramental Preparation

Our sacramental preparation program consists of weekly catechesis for the child and parent on Sunday and for the youth on Tuesday.

Year A: Preparation for Sacrament of Reconciliation

The first year, the child will learn about Salvation History, draw closer to Christ in the Eucharist through monthly adoration, and prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. At the end of the year, they will partake in the Penitential Service.

Year B: Preparation for Sacrament of First Eucharist and Confirmation

The second year, the child will prepare for their Confirmation and First Eucharist. They will learn about the Saints, choose one as a patron, and work on a project relating to their chosen saint. They will also learn about the many Eucharistic Miracles throughout the world and will choose one to present.
