The Dying Culture of Death

Dear Friends,

We have just begun another 40 Days for Life Campaign, September 25 -November 3 at the Tempe Planned Parenthood Abortion Clinic, 1837 E Baseline Rd Tempe. For details of times and parking information go to: https://www.40daysforlife.com/local-campaigns/tempe/. Additionally, during the Campaign, the Aid to Women Center Chapel, which is next door to PP, will have Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Saturdays from 7am-Noon. For those who cannot physically participate in the Campaign please consider praying a Rosary each day for the end to abortion.

The news on the abortion front is gruesome and yet hopeful. In the Pretrial hearing for David Daleiden in California, (he is being accused of recording confidential information without consent in California of PP officials who discussed the sale of baby parts and the dismemberment of live infants) a lot has been revealed. Daleiden has consistently held that he is a journalist and California law and the First Amendment protect his right to do undercover work and additionally the recordings were made in public places where conversations could have been overheard.

What we have learned so far:

-That many PP outlets, more than were previously known, were selling aborted baby organs/tissue for profit.

-That US Attorney General Loretta Lynch insisted that the California AG Office investigate and prosecute Daleiden. The lead CA Investigator testified that he was surprised that the US Attorney General ordered a State AG (Kamala Harris at the time) to investigate.

-That many abortionists endangered women’s lives by using procedures that were risky in order to harvest intact baby tissue/organs.

-That PP and the CA AG o!ce worked in close coordination to prosecute this case.

-That beating hearts supplied to Research Centers were harvested from live babies. Ironically this testimony was given by a long-term abortionist, Dr. Forrest Smith, who when he found out that PP was engaged in this barbaric practice, agreed to testify against the Prosecution. Originally, he agreed to testify for the Prosecution that Daleiden was a fraud, until he saw for himself the evidence, he had collected against PP. As reported by Lifesite News:

Smith, who stated that he is the longest practicing abortion doctor in the US, and that he has done at least 50,000 abortions, testified that when he first saw Daleiden on television in 2015 he told his wife, "I’m going to take down that son of a bitch. He’s f**king with me now.” However, that all changed after he personally met Daleiden and saw his videos. But after he saw the videos of Planned Parenthood executives and those from the National Abortion Federation conference in 2014, he realized that not only was Daleiden telling the truth, “he didn’t know the half of what was going on.”

I find it jaw dropping that PP could even horrify an abortionist with its macabre practice of vivisection of born alive babies. It appears PP went one toke over the line even by an abortionist’s standards.

The Judge will soon decide if the case will go to trial. But it seems like PP wanted to find out how much Daleiden knew before the Trial so that if it was too damaging, they could find a way to have the AG withdrawal the prosecution. There is also an upcoming Federal Civil case that PP has against Daleiden and the discovery in that case may be more damning to PP.

Then there is the case of the late Indiana abortionist whose children found in his Illinois home over 2,000 remains of aborted babies. How demented do you have to be to collect aborted remains like trophies and move them to your retirement home? So much for respecting the rights of women and their dignity, that abortion supporters claim to do. Since this mass murderer is deceased not much can be done but I wonder if anyone else who ran that Indiana abortion clinic will be held accountable?

Finally, the number and rate of abortions across the United States have plunged to their lowest levels since the procedure became legal nationwide in 1973. The report from the Guttmacher Institute, a research group that supports abortion rights, counted 862,000 abortions in the U.S. in 2017. That’s down from 926,000 tallied in the group’s previous report for 2014, and from just over 1 million counted for 2011. (No one is sure how much the “morning after pill” has affected this decline.)

As you can see there are ample reasons to join in this next 40 Days for Life Campaign. We are coming close to seeing the toppling of the culture of death and creating a lasting culture of life in our society.

Love,

Fr. John B
