Encountering Christ - Supplies Wish List
Volunteer Registration Form
Fill out the online volunteer registration form to be updated about upcoming volunteer opportunities.
We would prefer and appreciate, whenever possible, that donations be dropped off directly at the following locations:
- Contact Emily Radawac 602-850-6748, eradawec@svdpaz.org to donate to Saint Vincent de Paul Day Relief Center.
- Contact Marcos Gonzales, SJ at 818-900-3965 mgonzales@brophyprep.org to arrange to bring donations to: 741 E. Highland St. Phoenix, AZ 85014
- Drop off donations at: Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest, 2502 E. University Drive - Suite 125 - Phoenix AZ 85034. Monday - Friday from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm
If you have things to donate but are unable of taking them to these locations, please fill out the Registration form in order to pair you with a volunteer driver.
The situation at the shelters, daycare and churches helping asylum seekers changes constantly.
If you are planning on buying things for them, make sure to call the locations first to learn what their urgent heeds are at the moment.
Those who seek asylum into the USA come from a variety of situations and many of them, for different reasons, come with nothing else than what they are wearing. When we welcome them, besides providing a warm meal, medical aid and a shower we want to provide them with clean clothes. Some of the things they need the most are:
Clothing
- New underwear for girls and boys (sizes 3-12)
- New underwear for women (small, medium, bras 32A/B – 34A/B/C)
- New underwear for men (small, medium)
- Children, women and men socks
- Comfortable clothing and shoes (for travelling)
- Men jeans (sizes 30-32)
- Shoelaces and belts
Food
- Bottled water
- Formula and baby bottles
- Travel packs kits for their journey (Energy bars, cookies, trail mix, etc.)
Hygiene and Health
- Deodorant
- Toothpaste and toothbrushes
- Hair brushes, combs
- Foot powder and foot fungus cream
- Baby body wipes and diapers
- Cough drops
- Pedialyte and Gatorade (due to dehydration)
- Ensure
Other
- Car seats: when volunteers transport families to airport/bus stations they need to have have chairs for children
- Small stuffed animals
- Backpacks
All donated items may be gently used, but will need to be clean. It will be greatly appreciated if donations are sorted by category (Girls, Boys, Women, Men etc.,) labeled and folded when dropped off.
